| The ITAccountants Association (ITAA) has successfully obtained funding from the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer of the HKSARG to implement a project namely, Sector-specific project for Accountants. |
| Summary |
| ITAA proposed to initiate a sector-specific project to promote the adoption of Information Technology (IT) among CPA firms and accounting field. In cooperation with the Hong Kong and Mainland Software Industry Cooperation Association, Norray professional computer Limited and the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer of the HKSARG proposed to conduct a series of programme to serve the above purpose. |
| Background |
| The SME CPA firms' (Certified Public Accountants firm) IT adoption rate is very low from the on-site visits or telephone calls for voting and policies expectation enquiry of Mr. Louis Leung, Chairmen of CPA committee of ITAA. So, our association has planned to do something to improve the situation of accounting field. |
| Objective |
| The main objective of this project is to enhance IT adoption rate in the accounting field and enhance their competitiveness and educate the staff of the company and then propagate to their clients through their advices, as CPAs are the closest partners to the SME owners and got their trust traditionally. |
| Target audience |
| CPA firms (SME sized) who are IT starters, and would like to know more about IT adoption in their works or any level of accounting staff in any industry and commerce who interested to upgrade IT knowledge. |

Organizer - Industry sector professional body - ITAccountants Association
ITAA is a Hong Kong based non-profit making organization by a group of farseeing and forethoughtful professionals recognized the importance of integrating I.T. and Accounting.
It has branches in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Taiwan. In addition the Greater China Region, the association aspires to expand into other regions and promote ITAccounting globally. To date, ITAA has about 1500 members.

IT Roadshow
Information booth and in-site seminar for CPA firms to meet the IT Ambassadors of ITAA They will promote the latest IT information and leaflets will be distributed to thousands of proprietors and staff of CPA firms practicing in Hong Kong. And then they will provide a brief concept of IT adoption in CPA firms.

Certificate Workshop Course for IT Usage in SME CPA firms and general accounting field
The Course consists of workshops to be held in different districts. These workshops are for starters. They will cover basic skills on office automation as well as business applications. The interested CPA firms’ staff and partners will be able to get more practical experience on basic IT skills as well as from the Certificate Workshop Course.
Certificate in IT practical Course for CPAs and other accounting field. Such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power point, Computerized Accounting software-mail and search engine, including e-filing to IRD (Inland Revenue Department), Website concepts (to set up enterprise portal), Record and Control business through Internet under security and Basic IT Consultancy on ERP concepts and other topics proposed by the accounting field in the market research period ended on 30/10/05.
