ITAccountants Association Education Fund (ITAAEF) - English No Boundary project
Objective
ITAccountants Association Education Fund Limited (ITAAEF) is a non-profit making organization that set up in 2006. The fund is a charitable education fund established for providing free education for the dream of society, both local and regional. In this year, ITAAEF is running an “ English no boundary” project to provide remote education through ICT (Information Communication Technologies) for poor student in Guizhou of China. ITAAEF’s mission is to enhance the confidences for the Guizhou students in the English speaking and knowledge area.
Target Children
In this project, we will invite 260 secondary schools that come from city and the countryside of Guizhou province to join our “English no boundary” competition. Each school can send one team that consists of 1 teacher, 1 boy and 2 girls who aged 13 (Class 8) to attend the competition.
Form of Competition
There are two rounds in this competition. The first round will held in Guizhou. Each school team will give a speech (there will have 4 topic options: 1 Self- Introduction, 2 I have a dream, 3 School life, 4 The people who I respect the most) in public speaking style. Speeches will be two to three minutes. A contestant will be disqualified from the contest if the speech is more than 3 minutes. The teacher needs to train their 3 students to give a speech and prepare their script for the competition. Judge will give a score according to the student’s five area performances: Pronunciation, Fluency, Clarity, Body Language and the Speech Content. Each judge will give it a score from 1-100, with 100 being the best. The final score for the team will be the average of all team member (3 students) scores. The highest 16 teams will qualify and enter to our training camp.
Before the training camp, ITAAEF will provide remote education through ICT (Information Communication Technologies such as MSN etc) to 16 teams in order to improve their English skills before the training workshop and final competition. The volunteers in Hong Kong will provide 2 times of training for the Guizhou students through the MSN platform to answer their questions.
ITAAEF will organize an on-site training workshop to the final 16 teams. Students will have various chances to learn and speak more English. Several English skills such as how to organize the speech.
The concept of Icebreaker and get to the point will be taught during the 4 days 3 nights camp. ITAAEF would like to invite some native English speakers to come with us to Guizhou. So the Guizhou student can have a chance to talk with the native speakers.
In the last day of the summer camp, ITAAEF will assessed 16 teams performance in order to select the final 6 teams to visit Hong Kong. Final 6 Teams can enjoy 4 Days and 3 Nights trip in Hong Kong. And they will have a chance to conduct an academic exchange with Hong Kong Local Students under English speaking environment including public speech, on-stage performance etc.
